In each decision-making committee, we strongly encourage to have 50% women, 50% men, and 20-30% young people under 35.
The Women's Goat Project benefits only women because they are responsible for raising all farm animals, while most men work mainly in the fields. Thus, the agricultural production committee is predominantly composed of men, while the goat project committee is composed of women. These two committees balance each other out in terms of gender parity. All other committees are expected to have an equal number of men and women and reflect young people’s participation.
Promoting this rule forces co-op members to regularly discuss the concepts of women’s equity and youth retention, and how both contribute to the region’s vitality and growth.
